Yes, if you accept that it is a long day. Porto is around 310 km north of Lisbon, close to three hours of driving each way, so the day runs about 12 hours door to door and leaves roughly six hours in the city. It suits travellers who cannot spare a night but still want the icons, the river and a Port tasting.

About three hours each way on the A1 motorway, with no sightseeing stops on the road in either direction. We collect you at your Lisbon address around 6 am and drop you back around 6 pm. The drive is direct on purpose: the time saved is spent in Porto rather than on the way there.

The Alfa Pendular train is faster and cheaper if you are travelling independently. A private day costs more and buys different things: pickup at your own door, one driver-guide all day, admissions already booked, and no station transfers at either end. The train moves you; the private day plans the whole day.

Yes. Livraria Lello runs a timed voucher system and walk-in entry is not possible in normal hours, with popular slots gone days ahead in high season. On the Standard option we book the slot and hold the timing, so you go in at your time instead of queueing.

The historic core on foot: the Clérigos Tower, a bell tower of about 75 metres with more than 200 steps, the Sé Cathedral cloister, Livraria Lello, and the medieval Ribeira down on the Douro, plus the upper deck of the Dom Luís I bridge for the view over Porto and Gaia.

Caves Ferreira, at Avenida Ramos Pinto in Vila Nova de Gaia, founded in 1751 and the only Port house that has always stayed Portuguese. The visit is told through Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, the most influential figure in the history of the Douro. Choose the tasting when you book.

Every admission on this tour is included in the rate and reserved in advance. There is nothing to buy at the door and nothing to queue for. The Clérigos Tower and the Sé cloister are in all four options, and each option adds either the Livraria Lello entry or the tasting at Caves Ferreira. Lunch is not included.

Up to 15 travellers: a car up to 4, a van up to 8, and two vehicles from 9. Larger groups on request. The tour is not wheelchair accessible: the morning is about three hours on foot on cobbles and slopes and the tower is a climb. Service animals are welcome and infant seats are available on request.
