The Swingo way
Sintra is the most visited day trip from Lisbon, and the number one reason these days go wrong is Pena Palace tickets. Pena runs on timed entry: the interior is only accessible in the 30-minute slot printed on your ticket, there is no allowance for late arrival, and popular slots sell out in high season. Competitors sell the palace, arrive without a reservation, and quietly reroute the group.
On every ticket-inclusive option we reserve your Pena slot the moment your booking comes in, and where the timetable allows we place it away from the late-morning peak. Allow about 30 minutes from the park gate to the palace door, or take the shuttle. Beyond the ticket, this is a private day at your own pace with one driver-guide, and you pick the depth instead of being rushed through someone else's schedule.

What you'll see
A 19th-century Romantic palace on Sintra's misty hilltop, where Moorish revival meets Manueline architecture in yellow towers and red domes, with views to the Atlantic. Timed-entry tickets, pre-booked on every ticket-inclusive option.
The estate of a 19th-century millionaire drawn to alchemy and Templar symbolism. Descend the 27-metre spiral Initiation Well, walk the hidden tunnels, and lose an hour in the gardens and grottoes.
Where the land ends and the sea begins, in Camões' words carved in stone. The westernmost point of mainland Europe, with 140-metre cliffs and a lighthouse above the Atlantic. On the full day.

Questions
Yes. Pena Palace sells timed-entry tickets in 30-minute slots, and the interior is only accessible at the time printed on your ticket, with no allowance for late arrival. Popular slots sell out in high season. On every ticket-inclusive option we reserve your slot the moment your booking comes in.
About 40 minutes door to door, roughly 30 km northwest of Lisbon. We pick you up at your hotel, apartment, private address, Lisbon airport or the cruise terminal, so the day starts where you are. Parking in Sintra is scarce and the hills are steep, which is why most visitors leave the driving to someone else.
Two to three, done well. Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira are the classic pairing and fill our six-hour half day. The eight-hour full day adds an optional second monument plus Cabo da Roca and Cascais. Trying to see everything is what makes a Sintra day feel rushed.
Pena is the colourful hilltop palace, with state rooms, terraces and views to the Atlantic. Regaleira is the atmospheric estate of gardens, grottoes and the 27-metre Initiation Well. They are very different, and most travellers do both, which is exactly what the half day and the full day are built for.
Four options per length. Standard includes no admissions. Skip-the-Line covers the Pena Palace timed-entry ticket. Pena + Regaleira covers both monuments. Regaleira + Pena Gardens covers Quinta da Regaleira plus the Pena park and gardens, without the palace interior. The four-hour Express always carries the Pena ticket in the price.
Pena is busiest from late morning to early afternoon, and the afternoon is currently the quieter half of the day. Where the timetable allows, we book your entry slot away from the peak. Allow about 30 minutes to walk from the park gate up to the palace door, or take the shuttle.
Expect a lot of walking, much of it uphill and on cobbles, and wind at Pena and Cabo da Roca, so bring comfortable shoes and a layer. Our vehicles are wheelchair accessible and stroller accessible, infant seats are available and service animals are welcome. Tell us at booking and we adapt the pace.
Yes, on the eight-hour full day. After the palaces the route turns to the Atlantic: 30 minutes at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe with its 140-metre cliffs, then 30 minutes in Cascais. The six-hour half day stays with the palaces and skips the coast.
Sintra is atmospheric in the rain and the palaces stay open. The full day depends on good weather at the coast, so if we cancel it for weather you are offered another date or a full refund. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before, whatever the reason.
Up to 15. A car takes up to four passengers, a van up to eight, and from nine to fifteen we run two vans. The tour is private either way, so only your group travels, and the price you see is the total for the group rather than a per-person rate.
